We Need a Vacation

Happy New Year, everyone. It's been 3 issues, 78 pages, almost 2 years. We've been late a number of times on the update, but I think we have managed to put something up for every week that we've been up, and we really need a break. Now, I want to make it clear that this comic is not going away. We actually have stuff planned for while we take our break, but issue 4 won't start until we finish resting.

Okay, here's the plan. After the end of Issue 3 Omake, we'll be taking a month (i.e. 4 weeks / 4 updates) vacation of sorts. During this time, the site will still have updates every week, but they won't be comic pages. We have some guest art and some EF related stuff to run. After that, we will promptly resume the EF storyline with Issue 4.

We know that some people aren't going to be pleased with this announcement, and we're sorry. The most common complaint that we get is that we update too slow, but both Laura and I do this as a hobby in our spare time. We have full time jobs (which at times can take up more than the usual "full-time" of 40 hours a week). When we started out, the thought was that we would get used to doing things and the pace would pick up, but as things progressed, the extra time from becoming more efficient got used in improving the quality of the work.

From the writing side of things, there is not a day that goes by where EF is not on my mind. Even during November, when I was doing NaNoWriMo, I was still thinking about how to pace out Issue 4. The general story is worked out, but the majority of the work that needs to be done is in the presentation of the story. Going from some general ideas and themes to the exact dialog, events and setting details isn't exactly straight forward at times. Also, becuase I get new ideas, some things are constantly getting re-worked and improved.

As it goes, EF is really fun for me to work on. I really enjoy writing it, but in order to keep things fresh, I really think I need to step away from it for a bit. My personal plan for this break is to take a couple weeks off. The second half of the time will be for me to rebuild my script buffer. I also want to try and finally get some of the character profiles written and finalized along with some articles I wanted to put into the "info" part of the site.

Again, sorry for the delay.

Well, I hope everyone enjoys the omake this week. As per tradition, the omake will is a five parter with a new page up everyday until Friday (hopefully). Also, as Joe mentioned, after this, we will be taking a month off from Eidolic Fringe.

I have become somewhat unorganized in the last few months, but in the last few weeks I've become downright frazzled. I had been thinking for sometime that I probably needed a break from doing the comic, but in the last couple weeks, I've sort of been falling apart. It's just a cumulation of things like getting over the holidays and not getting enough sleep, but it's been hard to bring myself to do the pages lately, hence the hoard of late updates lately. I finally decided on the break after the really crummy week I just had. I just really need to step away from doing the comic for a bit. It's not that I don't enjoy it anymore, but if I don't take a breather, I'll probably end up resenting it. I hope people will understand. I'm sure there are some out there who are looking forward to the next storyline, and it will come in four weeks. So until then, enjoy the guest pieces and miscellaneous material we've planned to put up in the meantime.
